<section anchor="introduction"><name>Introduction</name>

<t>The Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) <xref target="RFC7480"/> is used by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) and Domain Name Registries (DNRs) to provide access to their resource registration information.
The core specifications for RDAP define core object types, but they do not contain objects for the Internet Routing Registry (IRR).</t>

<t>The IRR consists of several IRR Databases containing objects in the Routing Policy Specification Language (RPSL) <xref target="RFC2622"/> <xref target="RFC4012"/>, such as route origins, sets of routes and autonomous systems, and routing policies.
Network operators use this data to configure route filters, among other things.
IRR Databases are commonly queried with the WHOIS protocol <xref target="RFC3912"/>, which returns RPSL text.</t>

<t>Several RIRs operate IRR Databases alongside their registration databases, and already provide their other registration data through RDAP.
Serving IRR objects through RDAP lets clients use one protocol for both, and relate IRR objects to the IP networks and autonomous system numbers they refer to.</t>

<t>This document defines RDAP object classes and lookups for IRR objects, so that IRR data is available in the same structured JSON format and over the same HTTPS transport as other RDAP data.</t>

<t>Indentation and whitespace in examples are provided only to illustrate element relationships, and are not a required feature of this specification.</t>

<t>To keep the examples short, entities in them only include the "objectClassName", "handle", and "roles" members.</t>

<section anchor="extension"><name>Extension</name>

<t>This document defines a new RDAP extension with identifier "irr0", for accessing Internet Routing Registry (IRR) data through RDAP.
This extension adheres to the guidelines in <xref target="I-D.ietf-regext-rdap-extensions"/>.
New versions of this extension will use different extension identifiers.</t>

        <t>This document formally deprecates Transport Layer Security (TLS) versions 1.0 (RFC 2246) and 1.1 (RFC 4346). Accordingly, those documents have been moved to Historic status. These versions lack support for current and recommended cryptographic algorithms and mechanisms, and various government and industry profiles of applications using TLS now mandate avoiding these old TLS versions. TLS version 1.2 became the recommended version for IETF protocols in 2008 (subsequently being obsoleted by TLS version 1.3 in 2018), providing sufficient time to transition away from older versions. Removing support for older versions from implementations reduces the attack surface, reduces opportunity for misconfiguration, and streamlines library and product maintenance.</t>

      <abstract>
        <t>Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) are used to protect data exchanged over a wide range of application protocols and can also form the basis for secure transport protocols. Over the years, the industry has witnessed several serious attacks on TLS and DTLS, including attacks on the most commonly used cipher suites and their modes of operation. This document provides the latest recommendations for ensuring the security of deployed services that use TLS and DTLS. These recommendations are applicable to the majority of use cases.</t>
        <t>RFC 7525, an earlier version of the TLS recommendations, was published when the industry was transitioning to TLS 1.2. Years later, this transition is largely complete, and TLS 1.3 is widely available. This document updates the guidance given the new environment and obsoletes RFC 7525. In addition, this document updates RFCs 5288 and 6066 in view of recent attacks.</t>
